Anjite Menjo of Denlo FC was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament, while Satish Melo of Cheta FC was the highest scorer with 8 goals. Harish Elopra of Denlo FC got the best goal keeper award. The winning team, Denlo FC also got the most Discipline Team Award.
Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Shiv Kumar handed over the prestigious Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Football Trophy to the winning team along with cash prize of Rs 20,000, medals and certificates. While, Roing MLA Laeta Umbrey handed over the Runner up Trophy to the runner up team along with cash prize of Rs 15,000, medals and certificates.

Taling Taloh scored two goals (16, 35 min) and Taker Taloh (40 min), Tajong Pabin (54 min), Baken Payum (60 min), Tato Payum (68 min) scored a goal each for the winning team.

DC cautions violators of MV Act
PASIGHAT, Aug 11: Taking serious note of the violation of various provisions of Motor Vehicle Act, East Siang deputy commissioner Nidhi Srivastava today directed the competent authorities to launch drive against the wrong doers.
The DC observed that many vehicles are being used as transport vehicle without having requisite documents like professional driving license, plying permit, fitness certificate, first party insurance and Road Tax clearance etc which are compulsory as per the MV Act 1988 U/S 3/181, 66/192, 56/192, 146/196, 39/192.
To ensure public safety and strict implementation MV Act 1988 in the district, DC Srivastava has directed that all the transport vehicle owners/operators update their documents latest by Aug 20. If documents are not found in order, the violators will be fined or taken into custody or the vehicle would be seized. DIPRO
Rainstorm lashes Pasighat area

PASIGHAT, Aug 11: Heavy shower followed by a thunderstorm lashed Pasighat town and its adjoining areas this afternoon.
Though the heavy downpour for more than half an hour has created huge puddles in Pasighat town within no moment, the rain gave some respite to the people from scorching heat for the last couple of days.
There was no report of loss of life and property damage from any part of the area.
MLA mourns Asst. Pastor’s death
ITANAGAR, Aug 11: Longding Pumao MLA Thangwang Wangham has expressed grief and sorrow over untimely demise of Wangkai Wangsu, 45, of Niaunu village under Longding police station on Sunday morning.
Wangsu was admitted in RKM Hospital here a day before with complaint of chest pain. After initial investigation, the attending doctor had referred him to Guwahati. But before he could be evacuated, he suddenly breathed his last.
Survived by his wife and two children, late Wangkai Wangsu was a man of amiable nature and God loving, who was working as Assistant Pastor of Christian Revival Church, Longding.
His mortal remains are being taken to Longding with generous help from Arunachal Christian Forum led by its general secretary Toko Teki.
President of Arunachal Pradesh Christian Revival Churches’ Council Tarh Kama and hundreds of church leaders and believers also joined in prayers for the departed soul.
Wangham, on behalf of the entire Wancho people and his own behalf, conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to almighty to give strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. “May the departed soul rest in peace”.

college after summer vacation and majority have already booked train reservation
for onward journey. The college is reopening on 18th August and classes are supposed
to begin on 23rd August. However the ITFT authorities have told these students that
unless they receive fund from state government, they are not in a position to re-
According to the sources, ministry of tribal affairs, Govt of India had last year designated social justice, empowerment & tribal affair department as nodal agency for distribution of fund for ITFT students. Accordingly in the last academic session scholarship was routed through social justice, empowerment & tribal affair department. However, recently authorities of education department wrote to union tribal affairs ministry stating that they should be assigned the role of nodal agency.
The entire confusion is believed to have started after that letter. Because of the prevailing confusion, ministry has not been able to release the fund giving immense trouble to the students.
“We have already booked train ticket in advance. We spoke to college authorities and they told us to come only after fund is made available. Both the department are not giving us clear picture about the situation. There is ego clash between officials of these two departments and we are becoming hapless victim,” told a student of ITFT. He continued, “We availed this opportunity provided by ministry of tribal affairs with the hope to build better future. Also majority of students studying in our college hail from poor background. The concern authority seems least bothered about our situation as most of the students are from underprivileged family. This is total injustice to us.”
The tribal students of Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and various other states have already arrived at college and readying for new session. It is unfortunate that because of tug of war between two government departments, the innocent poor students are suffering.
Implementation of Food Security Ordinance from Aug 20
Cabinet approves devolution of 8 functions to Itanagar & Pasighat municipalities
ITANAGAR, Aug 11: National Food Security Ordinance, an ambitious scheme of UPA Government, will be launched in Arunachal Pradesh on August 20. The scheme will initially be implemented in Western Zone comprising Jamiri in West Kameng and Mukto in Tawang, Central Zone comprising Dollunghmukh in Lower Subansiri, Kangkhu in West Siang, Koyu in East Siang and in Eastern Zone comprising Vijaynagar, Namtok and Nampong as a pilot project. It was decided by the State Cabinet in a meeting on August 8, informed Government Spokesman Nabam Rebia in a release.
The existing BPL beneficiaries in these circles will be issued priority Household Ration Cards to launch the scheme. The rest locations will be covered in the next phase.
Reflecting Government’s concern towards providing technical education to its youths, out of ten approved new Polytechnics in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, the state cabinet approved starting of academic session and activities in five polytechnics. These are Dirang in West Kameng, Laying in Kurung Kumey, Namsai in Lohit, Pasighat in East Siang and Roing in Lower Dibang Valley from the current year.
These polytechnics will start functioning with few disciplines, like Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Science and Engineering from this year with an intake capacity of 90 students per institution. In the backdrop of number of Power Projects starting in next couple of years in the state which would require technical professionals, the Government felt the urgency to train its local youths to cater their needs.
In another landmark decision, the State Cabinet on Thursday approved for devolution of powers and functions in a phased manner to the newly constituted Municipal bodies of Itanagar and Pasighat for effective development of these urban areas by involving people in the process of development at grass root level through a democratic system.
The Cabinet approved devolution of eight functions to the Itanagar and Pasighat Municipalities immediately in the first phase which includes Sanitation, Conservancy and Solid Waste Management, Urban Forestry, Protection of the Environment and Promotion of Ecological Aspects, Safeguarding the interest of weaker sections of society, including handicapped and mentally retarded, Urban Poverty Alleviation, and burial and cremation grounds and electric crematorium, Cattle pounds, prevention of cruelty to animals, Vital statistics including registration of births and deaths and Regulations of slaughterhouse and tanneries.
The Cabinet further approved the proposal for making the Zilla Parishad Chairperson as the Chairperson of District Planning Committee, excluding the notified urban areas. It also approved construction of Zilla Parishad office buildings under SPA funding for the remaining seven districts which were not covered in the last financial year.
Regarding devolution of power to the Panchayati Raj Institution, the cabinet decided that the report of Expert Committee and recommendations of the State Finance Commission will be examined and placed before the cabinet.
The cabinet in principle approved for creation of post for Director Health Service for Education and Training in Health and Family Welfare Department.
The state cabinet also approved for creation of “C” Class Police Station at Nafra in West Kameng and Pangin in East Siang with the existing manpower.
The Cabinet further approved upgradation of EAC headquarter of Balijan in Papum Pare district to ADC headquarter along with few others.
50 cows distributed under Intensive Dairy Development Prog
ITANAGAR, Aug 11: Fifty milch Jersey cows and as many heifers were distributed to the Primary Milk Producers Cooperative Societies formed under Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Milk Producers Society Limited.
The cows were inducted under the Intensive Dairy Development Programme (IDDP), a CSS scheme of Govt. of India, for the benefit of the dairy farmers of the IDDP project area identified in Papum Pare, West Siang and East Siang district, informed Dr. Migo Riba, Managing Director (IDDP) and Managing Director of Milk Union (APCMPUL), in a release.

The distribution of the cows to the dairy farmer members of registered cooperative societies and affiliated to the Arunachal Pradesh Coop. Milk Producers Union Ltd, are aimed at uplifting the economic status of the poor dairy farmers of the dairy project districts.
The objectives of the project are to augment the milk production in the project districts so as to enable milk availability to the milk consumers of the Capital complex. These dairy cooperative societies are pouring about 250 litres of milk to Arun Dairy milk processing plant at Karsingsa.
With the induction of the cows the estimated milk collection from these societies would be around 1000 litres in peak production period.
The Arunachal Pradesh Coop Milk Producers Union Ltd. is committed to providing assistance to the dairy farmer members of the respective cooperative societies under the project in the form of cattle induction subsidy, technical input delivery service like free vaccination and treatment with quarterly deworming of the cows owned by the members in a society, free Artificial Insemination of the cows owned by the members, cattle feed transport subsidy etc. including various consultancy services ang trainings to the dairy farmers members of the society, Dr. Riba informed.

ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The Apatani Cultural and Literary Society, Ziro vehemently condemned the brutal attack on member of the Society, Er. Narang Gumbo, Executive Engineer (E), department of Power, Sangram, by a group of people on August 6 led by the husband of unsuccessfully contested candidate for the post of ZPM seat from Nyapin Panchayat segment of Kurung Kumey.

Seminar on Vivekananda’s thoughts
ITANAGAR, Aug 11: Swami Vivekananda Sardha Shati Samaroh Samiti of VKV Kuporijo organized a seminar on the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts in today’s context to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary at VKV Kuporijo yesterday.
Inaugurating the seminar, Deputy Commissioner Tahang Taggu called upon people to imbibe Swamiji’s ideals in true spirit so that an ideal social order is created.
He also exhorted the parents and teachers to teach their children to work for the society and appealed all to be punctual in their work.
Lardik Kare, General Secretary of Tagin Cultural Society while moderating the seminar gave a few examples from his personal life on the thoughts of Swamiji.

Lupalum Kri, Chief Engineer, PHED (East Zone) along with Sipi Elapra, Zilla Chairperson of Lower Dibang Valley District kicked off the tournament amidst huge gathering of peoples.
L Kri in his inaugural speech said that today sport is a noble profession and many sportsmen and women in the world can live a lavish life by sincerely and dedicatedly taking up sports as their way of livelihood. Dear Editor,
The Mother’s Home, a motherly home for destitute, physically and mentally challenged women and children is rendering its service tirelessly from Ziro Lower Subansiri District since 2005.
I am very happy that the branch office of Mother’s Home located at Lekhi village, Naharlagun have also completed one year.
I extend my gratitude to individual, Panchayat leader, Gaon Burahs, students, NGOs, govt. departments, corporate bodies , groups like Green Pioneer and many more for their contribution toward shaping the home into present state.
I also acknowledged the support and cooperation of state hospital Naharlagun, Urban Development Department, Itanagar and media houses of the state for their voluntary support in this noble venture and expect same support in days ahead.

RCC Bridge is need of the hour
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw attention of concern authority towards the dilapidated condition of Pagla River Bridge, situated in East Siang District. Every year this river creates lot of problem for the people of Yagrung Circle, Bilat Circle and Koyu Circle. During the monsoon season river totally block the road. People are not able to reach Pasighat, especially the students and patient face lot of problem.
Every year, I hear govt sanctioning some fund for the bridge. But simply wooden bridge bear testimony of it.Public simply criticizes it but have no action. Wooden bridge of Pagla River is only for those who can afford personal vehicle not for bus because buses are not allowed to cross through Wood Bridge.
I would like to request all the people, leaders, authorities and elected members to cooperate each other and remove wooden bridge and construct RCC Bridge.

Second, by bracketing a student's/ an achiever's success under the narrow confines of community itself is disrespect to years of hard work and the dedication behind the achievement. Ideally, the caste/community/religion of an achiever should not become the central theme of celebration/publicity unless that community/caste/religion is in the list of 'endangered species' and the achiever in question has endured and surpassed formidable obstacle to outgrow difficulties arising out of such circumstances, which is not the case here.
No where in your report it can be seen or felt that you (as one of the most effective agency of molding public opinion in the state) is proud that a boy from the state has made it to IPS. You left it to a community.

Power dept plays hide and seek game at Bomdila
Dear Editor,
I would like to drag the kind attention of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh especially the renowned Department of Power regarding poor scenario of power supply in the headquarter of West Kameng district.
The people of Bomdila are facing the brunt of power shortage since 11 days and even today the problem is not addressed properly. It’s almost a routine in Bomdila that electricity goes off every day. The worst sufferers are the common people of Bomdila. It is such a place where the electricity bill comes regularly even if electricity supply is not regular.
A strange system of charging the bill for 30 kilo watt unit per month whether the household has used 30 kilowatt in a month or not does not matter but the department will charge the same. And one of the most interesting things about Bomdila is that few minutes of thundering and lighting accompanied by rain is enough to bring down power supply in the whole town.
The diesel generator set in the town is still not working; batteries of mobiles are no more, no internet access etc. The daily requirement of the whole town is not more than 5 to 6 megawatt and the people of Bomdila are optimistic that their problem will be addressed soon because 11 days is not a lesser period and peoples are losing their patience.
I on behalf of the people of Bomdila would like to request the concerned authority to please deliver their best as early as posible.

Ceasefire violation and peace
While India is dealing with the incursion issue with a neighbouring country, the repeated violation of ceasefire by Pakistan created concern for Indian leadership.
Amid heightened tension on border over the recent killing of five Indian solders, Pakistan reportedly violates ceasefire again on Sunday. A BSF jawan was injured in Pakistani firing at a forward post in Jammu frontier.
On Saturday, in a major ceasefire violation, the Pakistani troops targeted several Indian posts by firing 7000 rounds of heavy ammunition and morter shells along LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
This was the 58th incident of ceasefire violation this year.

Usually after the clear breach of the LoC and violation of the 2003 ceasefire agreement by Pakistani men, the people of our country are witnessing heated arguments between political leaders of various political parties on the strategy of India towards Pakistan.
India must keep in mind that South Asian countries expect India play a bigger role in maintaining regional peace. Therefore, India’s strategy towards Pakistan and any other neighbouring countries should be result oriented and pragmatic towards stability and peace.
